The difference between liquid silicone and silicone

Liquid Silicone Rubber and Solid Silicone Rubber (usually referred to as Silicone) have some important differences in their uses and properties:

Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR)
State: Liquid Silicone Rubber is a flowing liquid before it cures and can be molded by injection or molding.

Curing method: Usually cured by heat or chemical reaction, after curing it becomes a soft solid.

Characteristics:

Elasticity: cured liquid silicone usually has good elasticity and flexibility.
Heat resistance: excellent high temperature resistance.
Transparency: It can be made into transparent or translucent material.
Application: Commonly used in the manufacture of medical devices, baby products, seals for electronic products, etc.
Processing: Can be injection molded through precision molds, suitable for producing complex shapes and details.

Silicone (Solid Silicone)
State: Usually refers to solid silicone, this silicone is solid before processing and has different hardness and elasticity.

Curing method: solid silica gel can be cured by heat or chemical reaction, but it is a solid block before curing and usually needs to be molded by mechanical processing.

Characteristics:

Therefore: it has good abrasion resistance and durability.
Strong resistance to oxidation: it has good weather resistance and can resist oxidation.
Application: commonly used to make seals, gaskets, building materials, etc.
Processing: usually requires cutting, extruding or mold forming to produce the finished product, suitable for making relatively simple shapes.

Suggestions for selection
Liquid silicone is suitable for products that require location, complex shapes or transparency.
Solid silicone is suitable for abrasion resistance, durability and simple shapes.
